What Your Baby Has Been Building This Term
The summer term covers a lot of ground. Over the past twelve weeks you have explored everything from language and visual development to milestones, music, social skills, and food. Each week has added something to the picture of how your baby is developing – and how you, as their first and most important teacher, can support that.
It is worth taking a moment to notice what has actually changed since the start of term.
Your baby is not the same baby who came to that first class. They are more alert, more communicative, more physically capable, and more socially aware. Some of that is simply time passing. But the interactions you have had – in class, at home, in the ordinary moments of every day – have shaped the brain that is doing all of that growing.
What Baby College sets out to do
The programme is built around five things:
Confidence – for you as a parent, and for your baby in new environments and with new people. If you feel more certain about what your baby is experiencing and why, that comes through in everything you do together.
Independence – classes like Baby College give babies practice at being in a new environment, with new people, with you close by but not the only thing in the room. That matters for later transitions.
Development – the activities and songs in every class are chosen to support physical, neurological, cognitive, and language development. Nothing is random.
Bonding – every song, every moment of eye contact, every time you respond to a signal your baby sends, your relationship deepens. That is the core of what Baby College is really about.
Learning habits — attention, turn-taking, listening, curiosity. These are practised every week, long before school is on the horizon.
What comes next
The autumn term builds on everything from summer term, with new topics including memory, attachment, treasure baskets, and more. If you have not already booked, now is a good time.
And if today is your last class for a while, please know that everything you have learned here travels with you. The songs work at bath time. The movement activities work in the garden. The understanding of why your baby does what they do does not stop being useful when term ends.
Thank you for being part of this term at Baby College.
